School visits

We welcome school students of all ages, from preschool to high school, as well as groups from special needs schools, various adult education programs, or other educational forms.

School visits are on TUESDAYS-FRIDAYS (on weekends and school holidays, we are open to the public)

The activities at Vattenhallen have been developed by our educators in collaboration with researchers at Lund University. During your visit, you will be guided by our student guides who all study at Lund University. They serve as great role models and provide insights into student life.

Look around and read about the different types of visits you can book, and for further questions, please reach out to us by email, kontakt@vattenhallen.lu.se

A warm welcome to us!

Preeschool

During your visit, you will have the opportunity to explore our exciting learning environments. At Vattenhallen we learn by interacting and playing!

We have three themes for our preeschool visits.

Inspirational visit

We combine activities and experiments into an inspiring visit!

For example, we discuss how the human body works, conduct simple physics experiments, explore technology and robots, or delve into our planet, Earth.

Experiments with Water

During the visit, we explore our various water stations.

Among other things, we observe what happens in a test tube when different liquids are mixed, create giant soap bubbles, and test how the movement of water can light up lamps in the hydroelectric power station!

Space and Robots

Here, we combine experiments and demonstrations with a visit to the Planetarium.

We join Ted the Bear on a journey through space with songs and music! After the show, we explore, reflect, and discuss how robots work.

Grade 0-6

Book a visit with a specific theme, come for an inspiration visit, or sign up to participate in one of our school projects!

The content of the different visits is tailored to the age of the students, as you specify during the booking.

We have six themes for our primary school visits.

Construction

We build constructions in 2D and 3D! We follow instructions but also get to use our creativity. We reflect on concepts like weight and force, and investigate which factors must work together when constructing a bridge.

Medical Technology

Together, we explore the exciting field of medical technology. We visit the exhibition "The Digestive Tract," test various types of medical equipment, and learn more about how medical research is conducted.

More Chemistry!

Put on your lab coat and step into our chemistry lab!

Here, we perform various chemical experiments and reflect on how different substances work and react.

Programming

Through dance and computers, we learn the basics of how computers are controlled! We explore programming code in different ways and investigate how we can get the computer to execute the commands we want.

Grade 7-9

Challenge perspectives and build competence with us!
Participate in one of our school projects, come for team-building, or book a thematic school visit with us.

The content of the different visit options is tailored to the age of the pupils, as specified during the booking.

We have seven themes for visiting classes from grade 7-9.

Team Building

Challenge the students to collaborate and compete against each other in a scientific multi-event challenge!

We move through Vattenhallen's exhibitions, combining guided tours with problem-solving.

Inspirational visit

We combine activities and experiments into an inspiring visit!

The program for the visit includes guided tours of our interactive exhibitions, a visit to the chemistry lab, and programming exercises.

Energy and Sustainability

Physics, chemistry, and biology come together in the visit about energy and sustainability.

We build wind turbines and explore human energy conversion. We purify lake water and see how the properties of water affect the climate in different ways.

Construction

Test construction solutions both on the computer and in practice.

With the help of computer simulations, we experiment to find sustainable designs. We build models of our simulations and discuss which factors must work together for the construction to be durable.

Earth and Humans

Join us on a climate expedition!

We follow the Earth's development from a geological, ecological, and ethnological perspective and look at how scientists work to understand evolution on our planet.

Together, we explore the exciting field of medical technology. We visit the exhibition "The Digestive Tract," test various types of medical equipment, and learn more about how medical research is conducted.

Life Science

Together, we explore different areas of the field of Life Science.

We dive into research on particles in the exhibition about ESS and MaxIV, test various types of medical technology equipment, and follow the journey of food through the "Digestive Tract" exhibition.

Programming

Everyone can code!

We carry out various programming exercises for Arduino, Lego Mindstorms, Kojo, Micro:bit, Python, and Edison. The exercises are developed so that everyone can understand programming at their own level.

Team Building

Challenge the students to collaborate and compete against each other in a scientific multi-event challenge! We move through Vattenhallen's exhibitions, combining guided tours with problem-solving.

ESS & MaxIV

Two world-leading research facilities are now located in Lund. This creates many opportunities but also many questions. Through the exhibition on ESS and MaxIV, as well as practical exercises, we increase the understanding of the important research being conducted in our immediate vicinity.

Medical Technology

Ultrasound machines, MRI scans, and other medical technologies allow us to study and diagnose the human body in new ways. Learn more about wavelengths, radiation, and innovation in this fascinating field of research!

Earth and Climate

We follow the Earth's development from a geological, ecological, and ethnological perspective and learn how scientists work to understand climate change and the Earth's evolution over long periods of time.

What Does an Engineer Do?

What is the study period like for an engineer? Which industries can you specialize in, and what might your career look like? Meet engineering students and researchers at LTH and Lund University.

Programming

We look at the connection between programming and mathematics and do simpler and more advanced exercises to understand how programming code is structured, applying concepts such as input/output, sequence, conditionals, and loops.

Control and Automation Technology

We dive into robotics by programming Arduino and look at how researchers work on creating control systems for robots. We also explore the exhibition on AI and discuss ethical dilemmas and applications.
